Time's Odyssey

No rest for weary time
running the cosmos

hopscotching in and out
of human lives

tunneling through wormholes
backwards and forwards

mingling todays
with yesterday and tomorrow

riding gravity waves
bouncing off dark matter

leaving us behind
as ordinary stardust

accelerating space
to catch dark energy

while seeping through
the universe’s seams

to explore another
with its enchantments.

I Want to Live with Beauty

I wish I could remember
what Beauty I saw today

suggestive maple blossoms
flush with willow green
introducing spring

less photographic film
to sear it on the brain

sparkling water diamonds
reddish lily disks
above, beneath the surface

how to keep it fresh
without withering away

accidental ducks
bufflehead pair
plying foreign waters

growing new memory tendrils
near the beholder’s eye

impatient squadrons
of mayflower leaves
eager to unfurl

available for conjuring
upon my soul’s request

streaking redwings
finches newly gilded
startling once again

I want to live with Beauty
every day until my last.

Spring Souvenirs

Scilla
vinca
ajuga

beautiful spring deeds
in blue and purple
scattered through the grass

good memory ticklers
once-a-year test
for fading flower-lovers.
