I Want to Live with Beauty

I wish I could remember
what Beauty I saw today

suggestive maple blossoms
flush with willow green
introducing spring

less photographic film
to sear it on the brain

sparkling water diamonds
reddish lily disks
above, beneath the surface

how to keep it fresh
without withering away

accidental ducks
bufflehead pair
plying foreign waters

growing new memory tendrils
near the beholder’s eye

impatient squadrons
of mayflower leaves
eager to unfurl

available for conjuring
upon my soul’s request

streaking redwings
finches newly gilded
startling once again

I want to live with Beauty
every day until my last.
