Hereditary Music
Fewer heartstrings
to play our lineal music
missing verses
of generational songs
unfamiliar melodies
with strange harmonies
without refrains
of consoling sounds
no longer pitch-perfect
the family choir
waiting now to sing
my wordless reprise.
