On this autumn morning
Canada geese squawk
in advancing formation
neighborhood birds
perhaps wren and nuthatch
exchange conversation
single red squirrel
dominates
with clucking chatter
commuter traffic
lumbering school bus
announce mechanical noise
quiet intersperses
quite harmoniously
if carefully listened for.
